Whether you think you can't or you think you can...

Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.

Many of us have heard this quote a number of times, I’m sure. I know that I have. I agree with it totally. Many of us who work at all in the mindset space not only believe it, but also share this notion with our clients. I know that I do.

The truth is, it’s super easy to believe this quote and stamp it all over your social media when you’re in a space where you believe that you CAN. And so what happens when you believe that you can’t? Well… you read the quote. You’re right.

I know that I was right on this a few months back when, being super pregnant, something shifted (beyond my control) and I felt like I simply didn’t have the capacity (emotional, mental or physical) to run my business in the way in which I had for the past 2.5 years. I had a lot of well-meaning advice around why ‘hustling now would pay off in the long run’ (as in, once my baby was born) and I understood the theory behind that for sure. But knowing what I know after working on mindset for so long was enough for me to realise that no matter what efforts I took to pile thing after thing onto my pile of already dangerously high spinning plates, if I couldn’t get behind these efforts with my belief, confidence and trust, they’d all come to nothing.

And so I paused.

I paused on selling, I paused on creating, I paused on my regular schedule and I went back to basics. Basics like supporting my clients and diving into the Word, sprinkled with a bit of journaling.

To be honest with you, I’d feel like a bit of a fraud if I shared quotes like these ones and then pushed and stretched myself with zero belief that any of it would work because I ‘should’.

So, what did I do instead? With a business to run, an unborn baby to continue to grow, and church/life responsibilities thrown in, how did I keep on keeping on (successfully) when I KNEW that the BEST thing for me to do was to STOP spinning the plates?...

I went DEEPER into doing my mindset work which meant that I GENUINELY had to drop the ‘how’. Yep – another ‘buzz phrase’ we see thrown around the internet whilst asking ourselves HOW we drop the how, right?

Here’s what it looked like for me…

Anyone who has been in my space for any length of time will know that I LOVE affirmations. (In fact, I love them so much that I’ve got some for birth which I’ve been listening to every night of late!) and there’s this particular affirmation which I’ve been writing almost daily for nearly 2 years. It’s not just something I write though – I BELIEVE it wholeheartedly. It’s 100% something I can get behind.

Leaning into this affirmation (which has been 2 years in the making) more fully than ever allowed me to break into a brand new space in my business – ESPECIALLY when it comes to mindset work. I could believe my affirmation more than I could believe that piling 3000 more things onto my to-do list and so THAT is what in leaned into.

My affirmation is rooted not only in business – but largely in SCRIPTURE, and that’s where I believe that my ability to get behind it came from. More importantly though, I realised that it’s where my ability to get behind MY ENTIRE BUSINESS comes from.

You see, ever since starting this journey back in September 2016, I’ve known that my area of passion and expertise lies in helping Christian women FULLY realise who and Whose they are and in turn, be mobilised to use their extraordinary gifts, skills and talents to truly transform the way they show up for their lives and businesses using the gifts which God has given them.

And for me, this mission doesn’t stop when Baby Aidoo arrives… to be honest, it doesn’t stop until every faith-focused woman who knows that she’s been called into Kingdom business for a time such as this is fully fulfilling her purpose. But Baby Aidoo (who is due THIS MONTH!) arriving does mean that for the next few months at least, the way in which I mobilise women for Kingdom business has to be focused in one place as I am sure to have my attentions stretched!

Remember, the world is waiting for your work.

The world is waiting for your work!
