Fear
Can we talk about you getting out of your own way for a sec?
Because I know that right now, you’re feeling the feelings… ALL the feelings. “Who am I kidding? I’m not cut out for this!” Paralleled with “I am on the brink of my whole life changing.”
Because you KNOW that you’ve got something. That the gift, the skills & the talent you possess is something which is going to transform people’s lives.
But that’s scary.
Of COURSE, it’s scary. But you remember you’re made in the image of God, right? That you’re a carrier of His presence? And so why would your life be destined for anything BUT absolutely everything He’s calling you to and desires for you?
Really though…
That’s not meant to sound like some idealistic, ego-filled fantasy talk either. It’s truth.
So, let’s think this through together. What’s stopping you from taking your next step right now?
Based on what came to your mind when I said that, how much of it is an excuse? A story you’re telling yourself in order to protect yourself from what’s next for you?
Because it IS scary, after all, we’ve gone over that.
And so, now that we know what we know, there’s a question - What or who is going to have the final say?
The God-given call and the beckoning to all you’ve been made for? Or stalling in self-sabotage?
Because it’s totally up to you.
In her book, ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’, Susan Jeffers says:
“People who refuse to take risks live with a feeling of dread that is far more severe than what they would feel if only they took the risks necessary to make them less helpless – only they don’t know it!”
Risk is not a natural state for any of us.
Except, for you, it’s a little bit more natural because you’re an entrepreneur! You have a vocation which is DEFINED by the word ‘risk’ (seriously – check out the definition).
Anyway, that aside, there is always another one to take isn’t there?
There’s no risk ‘categories’ here either. You absolutely know what it is for you and it’ll be different for the next woman, and that’s okay. Maybe it’s pressing ‘publish’ on that blog post or your first Facebook live stream, maybe it’s raising your prices, maybe it’s owning that you ARE here to change the world with your purpose work and you don’t mind who doesn’t want to stick around to see it happen? (Because there’s that annoying little additional fear of judgement in the back of your mind too, right?)
Whatever IT is, you absolutely MUST decide.
Because you’re still making a decision by choosing to stay stuck, choosing to play small, and choosing to keep saying ‘next week’.
All of it is a choice.
So take a step back and ask yourself if that’s (whatever that is) really the one you want to make this time.
The world is waiting for your work.
