What makes YOU happy?

Every term or so, my church run a course for new and not yet Christians called ‘The Alpha Course’. It’s an amazing program exploring the Christian faith and learning more about its roots, more about God and more about why any of it is relevant to our everyday lives.

My husband and I have the privilege of being group leaders which means that every Sunday, after church, we head down to the basement for an amazing lunch and then we watch a video about that week’s topic (oh, and the videos are INCREDIBLE by the way! They’re filmed all over the world in beautiful settings!) After that, we split off into our groups and James and I facilitate a discussion around what we’ve just seen and open up the room for questions amongst our group.

Yesterday was the first session of a new round of Alpha and we were exploring the topic ‘Who is Jesus?’ It’s always amazing to sit in a room of people with such diverse views, all united around a desire to know more.

One of the questions during yesterday’s session was ‘What makes you happy?’

People started opening up – ‘family’, ‘other people being happy’ and things like that were thrown out there. Then it was my turn.

Pretty much without thought I gave my answer – “Seeing other people live out their full potential.”

Even THINKING about this gives me goosebumps to be honest and I’m not exaggerating. I’ve known this to be true of me for years. When, as a Drama teacher, I’d see students light up on stage in ways which were rarely seen elsewhere in their school life. When watching X-Factor and seeing some shy unassuming person nervously tiptoe in front of the judges and then release a song which brings them (and me!) to tears.

And then it’s bigger scale stuff like waking up to the news today that Hillsong won a Grammy for ‘What a beautiful name’. Goosebumps and welling up again as I scrolled Instagram.

Because you know when Jesus said He wanted to give us life, and life in all its FULLNESS (John 10:10) it wasn’t just a cute quote for social media?

When people get out of their own way for long enough to let the Lord lead them BEYOND their fears, BEYOND their uncertainty, and BEYOND their comfort zones, incredible things happen. Like, really incredible.

The reason I write, create, teach and coach is because I know that ME living out the fullness God has promised me, is to encourage you to live yours in such a way that actually means you DO IT.

Call it ‘your best life’, ‘your truth’, ‘your calling’ or whatever fits - but all I know is that God has put something AMAZING on the inside of you which you might not even be accessing the HALF of right now and it’s time that changed. Right now.

The world is waiting for your work.

HEY! I’m Naomi, Business Coach for High-Level Female Entrepreneurs & Founder of Living Word League.

I coach, write, teach and run programs which infuse practical strategies with Biblical principles (which I personally think is the best rule of thumb for success.) I moved from a 7-year High School teaching career, to building and scaling my business after starting out as a hobby-status blogger in 2011. Within months, I was able to go totally full time and haven't looked back. My success, as someone who previously would have never seen myself as an entrepreneur means that I'm now beyond passionate about business being an expression of Kingdom-building here on earth. Hobby status and inconsistent feast to famine months aren't cutting it for you anymore right? You're meant for a business which has faith as your foundation AND soars with success. That's where I come in.
