It's time to END the ego...
You may or may not have heard, but I created a Bible reading plan for myself to go through this year (another story for another day) and then shared it with my community. You can grab it in the link below.
But that’s not the point of today’s message.
Today, I want to talk about what came up for me as I read from Ephesians 2 (one of this week’s passages) it’s about your ego…
I’m literally just going to share with you verbatim what I wrote in my journal this morning because I’m pretty sure that came through wasn’t just for me. Here goes…
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
This passage from Ephesians 2:10 is SUCH a permission granting passage to the body of Christ. Abiding in Him gives us our certainty and sure foundation, and then?
THEN we’re divinely inspired with nudges and prompts which cause us to consider stepping into something which, without the Holy Spirit, we might be hesitant about… But the truth is, the works have ALREADY been prepared and the only thing between them EXISTING and actually coming to fruition is US walking them out.
This means boldness, courage, obedience, and strength – and it means THE END OF THE EGO.
The concern of the other people’s opinions – especially those closest to us must SURELY come second to God’s clear and obvious will. Except – actually, as I write that – I think it’s SELF which gets in the way even more!
· Fear of success.
· Fear of failure.
· Fear of judgement.
… And so on. Which actually ALL stem from a lack of FAITH in God and what He’s prompted us to do.
We MUST do better.
We must know and trust Him more.
We must do this anyway, but ESPECIALLY because what is ours to walk out and into is already in existence, so far as God is concerned.
WE are the ones choosing not to see it.
So, that was this morning’s journaling and I just knew I had to share it with you guys today. And honestly, I didn’t need to write much else than Ephesians 2:10.
The works we have to do have already been mapped out for us.
THAT. IS. CRAZY.
What that also means is when you’re asking yourself…
“Should I start that business?”
“Should I make that leap of faith?”
“Should I ignore the popular opinion and do the thing I’m pretty certain God is calling me into?”
YES.
Yes, yes – the answer is always yes.
Not least because regret is miserable – it’s MOSTLY because of everything I’ve just mentioned.
Remind yourself of this…
The very things you’re actually created to do on this earth may not actually ever materialise unless you take a step towards walking them out.
So, enough with using ‘I’m just waiting on God’s timing’ as an excuse. If God’s already given you the tools, the nudges, and everything in-between – now, it’s on YOU.
Yep, it might be scary.
Yep, you might be judged by those who don’t understand you.
Yep, it might not work out exactly as you plan immediately.
But what’s the alternative?
A half-lived life of ‘what ifs’?
Not if I have anything to do with it…
2019 has already shaken me up with the reality that now more than ever, Christian leaders really need to step up and into their God-given vision, mission and purpose.
Every video and post I’ve come across recently has been speaking about manifesting, chakras, energy and everything in between.
I’m not saying that you need to jump on and speak about Jesus with every other word you share (unless you’re called to that I guess…) but I do know that YOU being the go-to person in YOUR field means less messages which evidently don’t resonate with God’s truth.
The world is waiting for your work!
By the way… If you know you’re ready to finally draw a line in the sand as far as hanging out at hobby status or side hustle goes, I have just the thing.
