Christmas and beyond...

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I hope you all have a wonderful day of celebration, wherever you are.

Below are a couple of verses to reflect on (between the turkey!) which talk about Jesus’ birth and what joy it brought to mankind. What divine purpose in something so ordinary.

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
Galatians 4:4-5 ESV

“But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.”
Isaiah 9:1-2

This was purposed, not prattle,
No dummy or rattle.
Birthed into fullness, the S(o)un shattered gloom,
But this very same infant was born for His tomb,
Born for the cross, which He’d later carry,
Born to redeem, leaving no space to tarry

May this Christmas give us an opportunity to reflect on Jesus’ birth and earthly purpose and cause us to celebrate our salvation in His redeeming love. Merry Christmas!
